Building Song is an ongoing, co-creative work with architectural sites that asks “does a building have a voice?” Artists, performers and community choirs produce site-specific performances that articulate the voice of buildings through vocal expression and sonic activation. The first iteration of Building Song featured award-winning composer Serge Stanley and Voices from the Vacant Lot on Gadigal land at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Camperdown in 2022. It was supported by the Inner West Council Artist Residency Program. You can see a video of it here. The second iteration of Building Song occurred in 2023 on Wiradjuri land at The Foundations in Portland, Central Western NSW. It featured Wiradjuri Dabee Elder Peter Swain, Artist Michael Petchkovsky, Voices from the Vacant Lot and Eclectica Choir from Bathurst, and was supported by CASP funding. You can see a video of it here.
