Silent Spirals was produced in collaboration with David Hashimoto. Multiple spiral objects were suspended from tree branches in the Coal Loader gardens as part of the North Sydney Art Prize in 2017. The objects were fabricated from clear acrylic strips and built up around eight steel spines in various sizes, their translucency creating an effect of partial invisibility or camouflage, alluding to covert activities of governments and corporations. This primary idea was extended when the objects were activated by the wind, their slow spinning motion reminiscent of drills used for tunneling into land.
