Commissioned by Inner West Council for Edge Newtown Festival, Dub Circle combined the artistic skills of Gabrielle Bates, DJ Semper-Fi (Jeff Black) and the Inner West community to create a ritual sound and dance performance in Camperdown Park, Sydney. Every element of the project was sourced from the local community and the park itself, from the sampled sounds for DJ Semper Fi’s live set, to bright sustainable costumes and masks. The music was amplified from the park’s historic rotunda while a joyous community procession traversed the oval at sunset. The full live set can be heard here.
