Illuminatrope was a first-time collaboration between Gabrielle Bates and David Hashimoto. The work took six months to construct and is fabricated from multi-faceted surfaces of polished stainless steel. The work was originally selected for inclusion in the Wollongong City’s Sculpture in the Garden in 2016, before heading to Wollombi Valley’s Sculpture in the Vineyard. In 2018, Ryde City Council installed the work at Looking Glass Bay in Gladesville where it can be seen and enjoyed on the foreshore of Banjo Paterson Park.
